E-Learning Courseware

There are many wonderful course creation software packages but most are unfortunately very pricey.  Here are some free options and a list of some of the paid options that give 30 day trials if you only have a brief need of some high end software.

Udutu’s WSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) online learning software makes it easy to produce media rich, engaging online courseware at minimal cost and without having to rely on programmers or multimedia experts. Build branching simulations and case-studies, interactive quizzes, and complex assessments.

authorPOINT LITE- Free Version

If you need to capture presentations and use pre-recorder video/audio files in Microsoft PowerPoint, this is the tool for you. This website provides the easiest way to develop multimedia SCORM compliant content and share it across different platforms.

CourseLab – free version with limited features

This is hosted software for e-learning, which allows its users to create, manage, and publish online learning content. This is an easy-to-use, but powerful authoring tool that allows you to create high-quality e-learning content in a programming-free environment. This tool is available as freeware version, as well as a commercial product.

Scratch – free

This is a very fun tool that allows its users to create stories, animations, and games, which they can later share online. If you need to put your creativity into practice and feel inspired to create art, music, animation, or stories, then this is the right destination for you.  This could be used to create a learning game or e-learning course.  It is free and whats more you could get the students to create their own tutorial for what ever you are teaching them!

GLO Maker
Authoring tool for learning objects

GLO Maker is an authoring tool for creating rich, interactive learning resources. It builds on the extensive experience of the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) in Reusable Learning Objects.
