Languages Other Than English

Learning another language is tough and practice is sometimes dull so here you will find some resources to liven things up a bit.

Software and tools that could be used in language classes.

VOKI
Voki is a free service that allows you to create personalized speaking avatars and use them on your blog, profile, and in email messages.

Podcasts and videos can be used in many ways.  Students can listen to podcasts or watch videos created by native speakers or create their own in class or for homework.

The Nintendo DS and WII have some great games for learning language.  There is a series called MY COACH.  There are editions for learning Japanese, Spanish, Chinese, English, vocabulary, German and French.  More languages are added often.

Many of the games the students have can have the base language changed.  Challenge the students to play their favourite game with the language switched to there LOTE language.
